Borussia Dortmund secured their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over SC Freiburg on Saturday evening. The match saw the home side dominate possession and create numerous chances, but it was Borussia Dortmund who took advantage of their dominance to secure all three points. In the 77th minute, Borussia Dortmund struck the decisive blow as they were awarded a penalty following a foul on Jadon Sancho. The German striker stepped up to convert the spot-kick and send the BVB fans into raptures. SC Freiburg, however, refused to give up and fought back in the closing stages of the game. In the 95th minute, they equalized through a goal from Stefan Effenberg. However, it proved to be too little, too late for them as Borussia Dortmund held firm and emerged victorious. The result sees Borussia Dortmund sit top of the Bundesliga table after five games, while SC Freiburg remain in second place. It was a tough test for both sides, but Borussia Dortmund came out on top thanks to their clinical finishing and strong defensive display. Overall, it was another impressive performance from Borussia Dortmund under new manager Marco Rose. They showed that they are capable of competing at the highest level in Germany and will be looking to continue their winning ways in the coming weeks. |
