On Sunday evening, Marseille secured their place at the top of Ligue 1 with a convincing victory over Toulouse. The match was closely contested but Marseille emerged victorious thanks to some outstanding performances from key players. In midfield, Florian Thauvin and Adama Traore were instrumental in creating chances for their teammates. Thauvin's pace and skill allowed him to create numerous opportunities for his team-mates while Traore's passing range and vision helped to open up the opposition defences. Up front, Dimitri Payet continued his impressive form by scoring two goals. His first goal came after just six minutes when he finished off a well-worked move. His second goal came late on in the match when he scored with a powerful shot from outside the box. In defence, Benjamin Mendy and Lucas Hernandez were strong throughout the match. Mendy was particularly impressive, completing a number of crucial tackles and interceptions to help keep Toulouse at bay. Overall, it was a great performance from Marseille who showed why they are currently at the top of the league. They have now won four out of five matches since returning from international duty and will be looking to continue their good form against Strasbourg next weekend. |
